The MoU, signed by His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry, and His Excellency Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, took place at Empower’s Dubai headquarters, with officials from both parties present.
 
This partnership emphasizes the importance of delivering environmentally-friendly district cooling systems, particularly to the northern emirates, contributing to the UAE’s sustainable future. Empower highlighted that the MoU will focus on conducting technical and economic studies to expand these systems while aligning with national interests and citizens' well-being.
 
The MoU supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, marking a significant step in the nation’s sustainability journey. Eng. Al Olama emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with local stakeholders to meet sustainability goals, stressing the importance of decarbonizing the utility sector. Meanwhile, Bin Shafar reaffirmed Empower’s dedication to contributing to the UAE’s energy goals, focusing on clean energy and sustainable transformation.
