IMI has supplied a PEM electrolyser to a pioneering research project examining the viability of using the by-product of hydrogen power generation in district heating systems.

The project, which will be delivered by the Fraunhofer-Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems in Zittau, Germany, is part of the IntegrH2ate research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the flagship project H₂ Giga in cooperation with Linde GmbH. It involves setting up a test facility at the Stadtwerke Zittau site to investigate the real-scale extraction of heat from hydrogen generation.
