The city of Poznan in the western part of Poland is taking a major step toward geothermal district heating, as seismic surveys were started on March 11, 2025 to assess the city’s subsurface potential. The initiative is led by Danish geothermal developer Innargi and Veolia Energia Poznan, in partnership with the City of Poznan, as part of a long-term plan to integrate geothermal energy into the city’s heating system.
