Summary

Amazing to see the progress being made at the University of Massachusetts Amherst North Energy Exchange project.

Under the strong leadership of Ted Mendoza and the UMass Amherst team, they are achieving significant efficiencies by integrating this project and the building-level retrofits to their existing capital upgrades plans. This strategic approach will help UMass maximize their investments while striving for minimal carbon emissions.

More institutions are rethinking how they power their campuses, replacing aging steam and fossil fuel systems with cleaner, low-carbon alternatives. Consigli Construction Co., Inc. and our energy division, Arch Energy, are equipped with the expertise and experience necessary to support clients like the University of Massachusetts Amherst in planning and implementing complex energy efficiency projects to modernize and future-proof campuses for years to come.

See the work our team is doing to transform UMass' North Energy Exchange Center, complete with the installation of a new Thermal Energy Storage Tank, below. The NEEC will integrate a 70-bore geothermal field along with a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Tank, now under construction, that will deliver 2.2 million gallons of chilled water to maximize efficiency and reduce emissions.
