Toronto
Summary
Today, Mayor Olivia Chow, Deputy Mayor Amber Morley (Etobicoke-Lakeshore), CreateTO and City of Toronto staff celebrated the progress made on the new mixed-use, transit-oriented community that will redefine Etobicoke at Bloor-Kipling.
Construction on the 5207 Dundas St. W. development by Kilmer-Tricon is three months ahead of schedule. This is one of five blocks identified for rental housing development on City-owned land, delivered through CreateTO.
The new community at Bloor-Kipling will include:
- five rental housing developments (including 5207 Dundas St. W) which will include approximately 2,700 residential homes, at least 900 of which will be affordable rental homes,
- the new, state-of-the-art Etobicoke Civic Centre, and
- a new City park.
Bloor-Kipling will also be Toronto’s first net-zero community. All development blocks will be serviced by a District Energy plant with all heating and cooling needs to be provided by a low-carbon thermal district energy network.
