Bloor-Kipling transit-oriented community moving ahead of schedule

Construction of a new transit-oriented community at Bloor-Kipling is ahead of schedule as the City of Toronto and CreateTO prepare for the next phase of rental housing development.

Recently, Mayor Olivia Chow, Deputy Mayor Amber Morley, CreateTO and city staff celebrated the progress made on the new mixed-use project that aims to redefine Etobicoke at Bloor-Kipling.

Bloor-Kipling will also be Toronto’s first net-zero community, the city states. All development blocks will be serviced by a District Energy plant with all heating and cooling provided by a thermal district energy network.

The city invested $77 million to decommission the former Six-Points Interchange, replacing what was known as “Spaghetti Junction” with a new network of streets, unlocking almost 18 acres of land and creating the seven blocks for redevelopment, the release adds
