Surrey council approves 2nd piping contract in 2 weeks

Summary

On Sept. 15, council awarded Kerr Wood Leidal Associates a contract of $738,597 (spending limit set at $813,000) for engineering design and construction services related to expanding the district energy piping system. That work involves 1,700 metres of distribution network piping to support development downtown and relocate a temporary energy centre.

Concerning Metro Vancouver, he said, the City is looking at project "down the hill" in Bridgeview "that would extract sewer heat from Metro Vancouver, pump it up and tie into this system so as part of that project we're looking for Metro Vancouver to provide funding towards the City's district energy system."
