ENGIE invests in cleantech ExerGo to accelerate low-carbon district networks

ENGIE, through its ENGIE New Ventures investment fund, has acquired a strategic stake in start-up ExerGo, alongside existing investor EREN Group, to accelerate the deployment of its CO₂-based district heating and cooling technology.

ExerGo’s technology is designed to optimize the use of waste heat and local renewable resources, including surface water and shallow geothermal energy. Compared to conventional water-based networks, its CO₂ system can reduce installation costs and improve thermal performance. The company has already demonstrated its solution through a pilot plant in Sion and a major project with Groupe E in Fribourg.
