Korea Western Power has begun commercial operation of the Gumi Combined Heat and Power Plant, which serves as the starting point of the national energy transition policy.
According to Korea Western Power, the plant’s capacity of 500 MW is large enough to raise Gumi City’s power self-sufficiency rate from the current 6% to around 30%. It was built using eco-friendly construction methods, including state-of-the-art low-nitrogen-oxide (NOx) burners and environmental facilities that reduce emissions well below legal limits.
