Summary
Finnish technology firm Valmet has secured a contract to supply a heat recovery system to Veolia’s EC4 combined heat and power plant in Łódź, Poland, as part of efforts to reduce emissions from the city’s heating network, Bioenergy Insight reported.
The new system will capture waste heat from flue gases and transfer more than 50 megawatts of energy into Łódź’s district heating network. The project is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by over 82,000 tonnes each year.
Veolia said the upgrade will increase renewable heat production at the EC4 plant by about one-third without increasing biomass use.
