Energy Minister Michael Shanks has visited a northern Lincolnshire power plant which is forging ahead with a £1.5bn carbon capture investment. The Minister toured VPI’s Immingham Combined Heat and Power Plant, where he met senior leaders and apprentices involved in the firm’s major industrial decarbonisation initiative.
The Immingham facility supplies electricity and steam essential for key industrial processes - including refining, sustainable aviation fuel production and manufacturing materials used in battery development. It also has the capacity to generate power for up to 1.2 million homes.
