Bus line, European city ticket, bridge park: Görlitz and Zgorzelec are already linked by several projects across the German-Polish border. Another ambitious project is now being added.
The district heating supply for Görlitz and the neighboring Polish town of Zgorzelec is to be completely converted to renewable energy sources by 2030. The cross-border energy project entitled "United Heat" has been planned and prepared since 2020. Construction of the first section across the Neisse will begin on Tuesday (March 31) with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony - in the presence of prominent politicians from both countries. Federal Economics Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) and Poland's Energy Minister Milosz Motyka are expected to attend.
