With support from Con Edison, the Alafia development was designed with both wellness and efficiency in mind. The community will bring more than 2,400 affordable apartments to the area, all built to meet high standards for green living.
From solar panels to geothermal energy, sustainability is built into every corner—but one of the most innovative features is something residents never even see.
Behind the scenes, a first-of-its-kind water heat recovery system captures warmth from water going down the drain—like from showers and sinks—and reuses that energy to heat new water throughout the building.
