A recent campus expansion at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA, included the addition of a 2.0 million gallon Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank as a part of their existing chilled water district cooling system.
To offset a portion of the cost of the TES system, the owner utilized incentives from California’s Permanent Load Shift (PLS) program. The PLS program provides a one-time payment to owners with qualifying TES systems in the amount of $875/kW of electric load shifted.
Mt. San Antonio College’s TES tank provides cooling for the campus expansion and reduces their energy costs. The tank was designed and built fully buried under a student parking lot.
