Decarbonization : Steamification is the Alternative

When:  May 15, 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00 (ET)

Join IDEA and Maxi-Therm on Wednesday, May 15 for this can't-miss webinar.

Advances in steam technology for Heating, Cooling, & Power Generation confirm steam is versatile, safe, & reliable with many advantages we can apply today. The goal of decarbonization has many paths. We need to choose a direction that is not only realistic but attainable, consider the economics & security of our solutions, & make choices that are both environmentally sound & humane. We live in the real world & cannot be absolutely bound by idealistic concepts.

District Energy can benefit from Waste Steam Recovery in Power Generation, Microgrid, Cogeneration, Renewables, CCS & CCUS. District Heating with Steam can be produced by many methods and is an excellent energy transport medium that has synergy with most decarbonization plans

Topics to include:

- Steam loops and electric grid share the same dream!
- Vertical flooded design using high-pressure steam to generate hot water
- How to achieve 95+% efficient steam generation with natural gas
- Why use steam for cooling demands?
- The benefits of using steam district energy.

Presenter

Patrick Lach, Vice-President Business Development, Maxi-Therm

Having started his steam training at the age of 14, Patrick is now well versed in steam distribution and generation systems. His passion for steam is apparent and he is always looking to share his knowledge and help educate others on a variety of applications. " For more than 20 years I’ve heard people say that steam is a ‘dying dinosaur’. Many professionals believe that a condensing boiler and a low temperature hydronic loop is the only way to go! I will make your jaw drop and you will never think about steam energy the same way again. 'Steamification' is a key component of decarbonization. This is my goal."

Suzan Sun-Yuan, Vice President, PE, CDT, LEED AP
Sun-Yuan has more more than twenty years experience in HVAC field with several ASHRAE awards wining projects. Suzan designed multiple mixed use supertall high-rises domestically and internationally, large commercial public assembly buildings, and the central heating and cooling plants. Suzan is a Technical Authority working in ESD, heavily engaged with engineers to ensure projects are technically sound and conform to QA/QC procedures. Suzan holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Thermal Engineering from Tongji University, Shanghai, China.
