Summary

At Peña Station Next, a transit-oriented smart and sustainable development in Denver, stakeholders Panasonic, Xcel Energy, Denver International Airport, Younicos, and LC Fulenwider, Inc. have partnered on a unique solar+storage microgrid. This multi-purpose, multi-use case microgrid supports renewable energy grid integration; strengthens grid resilience through backup power and grid ancillary services, such as peak shaving and frequency regulation; and benefits diverse stakeholders and the entire power grid through a lithium-ion battery system. This presentation will discuss the opportunities for multi-stakeholder, multi-partner microgrids, the challenges and benefits.
