Connecting to Ottawa's Emerging Downtown Districts

06-23-2019 15:41

Two of the most exciting developments in Ottawa will be the redevelopment of Tunney’s Pasture and LeBreton Flats. In addition, the Ottawa Centre EcoDistrict and Energy Evolution have sparked thinking about how the federal government’s district energy system can act as the ‘internet of heating and cooling’ for this area. The vision is that the system will become a thermal platform sharing low carbon energy and accepting waste heat inputs from individual buildings. This presentation will provide an overview of the ‘District’ approach in Ottawa and how the local DES will support the buildings within the downtown core.
