Feasibility Study for a Waste to Energy Steam Plant at University of Idaho

03-12-2018 15:52

Summary

The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of utilizing waste-to-energy technology at the district energy plant for the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, Idaho. An assessment of production, composition, and energy content of the solid waste is conducted. It is found that while the surrounding community would be required to meet energy demands, using WTE has the potential to save $1M annually over current biomass fuel and $2.5M over natural gas.
