Infrastructure Management and Maintenance - The Nexus of Budgets, Staff and Knowledge

06-28-2019 07:48

Summary

The deteriorating condition of the nation’s infrastructure continues. Annual maintenance and capital renewal budgets continue to be cut. With the next major failure hands will be wrung, promises made, and concern proclaimed all while budgets, staffing level and training programs remain stagnant….. at best. Leveraging of budgets and existing staffing levels will be discussed to improve the recruitment of new staff, translate the plan for senior management and financial officer approval and a budget plan coupled with career track and training programs. The correlation of staff skills and knowledge with measured and verified cost savings will create a compelling case for the CFO to share savings with facilities departments in lieu of the traditional budget sweeps all while reducing fiscal and facility risk.
