Integrating Biomass with District Energy Based on Flexible Fuel Solutions

06-30-2017 13:54

Summary

Biomass fired CHP/cogeneration is the most effective form of clean power and heat generation and enables power grid stabilization with 24/7 renewable energy. Global trend is in plants between 5 -10 MWe output. Fuel availability and logistics typically limit the maximum capacity to about 10 MWe. On the other hand increasing specific cost (Capex/kWe) typically limit the minimum capacity to about 5 MWe. Ability to use multiple fuels is an essential strength for plant owners - less dependency on any single fuel supplier and possibility to reduce fuel costs. Well standardized plant delivery concept reduces risks and improves bankability.
