Meeting Campus Emissions Requirements with Landfill gas as Primary Fuel CHP

03-13-2018 16:32

Summary

UNH has overcome a variety of permitting challenges related to their landfill-gas-to-energy project while meeting their emissions reduction commitments three years early. The permitting process for the project has been complex from the outset, starting with the initial air emissions permitting and the siting of the 11-mile pipeline that delivers the processed landfill gas to the CHP plant at UNH’s Durham campus. The project has become an integral part of UNH’s district energy system.
