Summary

Of all the DER sources, natural gas turbine and reciprocating CHP have been established as good microgrid resources due to their dispatchability, good response, high technical maturity and low emission. We will describe the end-user-specific primary, secondary and tertiary drivers for various CHP-enabled microgrid projects in the presentation. We will also address how CHP-RE-DER into an electric grid poses challenges, all the way from the host-sites to power generation and ways to mitigate them.
