Session Abstract

The University of Virginia and Optimum Energy launched an initiative in 2020 to Optimize two plants on their largest chilled water loop - the Health System Loop.  The initiative required installation of variable speed drives and additional metering equipment as well as the integration of the existing BAS with the OptimumLOOP Application.  The chilled water plants total 18,500 tons of capacity coupled with a thermal energy storage tank.  During the first three months of operation, the total chilled water electric use has decreased by 3.5M kWh.
