Summary

To date the majority of the district cooling plants in UAE have been electric chillers. While the gird power supply in UAE is very good, what would happen if this electric power supply had an interruption or started to get expensive. This presentation will review options for looking at onsite generation or combined cooling and power using the waste heat for steam turbine drive chillers and absorption chillers. This presentation will also review using not only natural gas and or diesel fuel but also the possibility of using other fuels like landfill gas, digester gas or gasified municipal solid waste for sustainability options and for developing cities.
