Session Abstract

The presentation will focus on the installation of a new 175,000 lb/hr natural-gas-fired, field-erected, package boiler. The new boiler operates in an existing CHP system. Studies were performed to determine the lowest life-cycle-cost boiler to install. The site was very tight. Five construction and six procurement contracts were utilized as well as planned and phased shutdowns. Construction was coordinated to maintain utilities to campus, UIHC hospital, and critical research buildings throughout the project.
