Typically substations are field erected, where different components are supplied by various vendors and then field installed according to Piping and Instrument diagrams, Piping Diagrams and Arrangement Drawings. Site questions about component location in relation to others and the detailed information needed to be communicated can lead to delays and mismatched components as well as unexpected performance issues at startup. Pre fabricated substations, where all the components are dimensioned correctly to match the needs of the customer and the manufacturer takes full responsibility for the design and function of the packaged solution will save time, money and avoid unexpected performance issues. This presentation looks at a few case studies to demonstrate the techniques.
