Summary
The Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership, a multi-donor fund of which the EU is one of the main contributors, was officially launched in the Belarusian capital Minsk on 10 July.
The fund will provide up to €17 million in grant support to municipal projects across the country in the areas of district heating, solid waste management, street lighting, transport and energy efficiency.
The EU, with a pledge of €10 million, is the largest fund contributor to date, while Belarus has also committed to providing €1 million. Other contributions have come from Estonia, Germany, Poland and Sweden, and more countries are expected to join the E5P in Belarus in the near future.
