Summary

The Ohio University Board of Trustees Tuesday voted to approve several facilities projects. In other news, construction on the Perry & Sandy Sook Academic Center, a student-athlete advising center attached to Peden Stadium, should be completed by the end of this month.

For starters, the Trustees, meeting at OU’s Dublin campus near Columbus, voted to approve roughly $11.5 million in facilities repair or construction projects. Those projects are:

• Heating and cooling updates and a boiler system upgrade for the Konneker Research Center (Ridges Building 25), a $5 million project. Construction is expected to begin in the university’s next fiscal year (2019-2020).

• Demolition of four South Green dorms: Smith, Atkinson, Armbruster, and Weld (see article on page 2).

• Repairs to OU’s Athens campus steam system, a $1.5 million project. Construction expected to begin late in the 2018-2019 fiscal year (which ends in June 2019).
