The Expo Village contract win is “a landmark in the history of Abanos” the firm said in a statement, adding the carpentry and joinery works under the agreement will cover a built up area of 48.85ha.
This area is spread across 11 plots in five parcels, three of which have been commissioned to Abanos.
For the contract, Abanos will use joinery and fit-out products manufactured at its 2.1ha facility to supply and install non-fire-rated and fire-rated doors, kitchen cabinets, and wardrobes.
The project will be connected to Dubai Metro’s Red Line extension and designed within a building information modelling framework to achieve LEED Gold certification. With construction now under way, it is set to be delivered in Q4 of 2019.
