If you build a neighborhood that relies on solar energy, you don't want a highrise that could block the sun rays right next to it.
And having a “solar right-to-light bylaw” that prevents that from happening may be a way to give developers the assurance they need to build more sustainable projects.
That’s one of the recommendations included in a new national study, released Friday in London, that aims to show municipalities what they can do to encourage net-zero developments — those that produce as much energy as they consume.
