Rapid Geothermal District Heating Assessments in the Rural United States

By District Energy posted 10-19-2020 15:35

Comsof Heat and IDEA member Nicholas Fry, through the Iceland School of Energy, recently completed a presentation of methods for district heating system development across single-family housing and commercial retail corridors in the United States. Techno-economic simulations of the next generation of materials and control in conjunction with a geothermal heat source indicate cost improvements over previous assessments. The work showcases rising potential for heat network development in sparsely populated areas across towns and municipalities that wish to reduce the use of individual building heating elements. The presentation will appear at the Geothermal Resource Council Annual Meeting and Expo.

For those unable to attend the conference a white paper is made available through Comsof Heat. Comsof Heat is an industry partner in the project, delivering automated district heating network design and planning software.

The white paper is accessible here
