Application Specialist – Steam Trap Monitoring

The Application Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance, expertise, and insight on steam traps and steam systems throughout the entire product lifecycle as Everactive’s internal customer voice and STM product champion.  Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the role will support ongoing product development, marketing efforts, and the sales process in order to drive adoption and evangelize Everactive’s STM solution.  As an integral member of a cross-functional Product Team, the Application Specialist will work with Product Management, Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Customer Experience.  An ideal candidate will maintain a deep understanding of the steam system market, while also demonstrating a keen interest in and vision for the ways in which technology can improve existing maintenance & reliability processes.  The role requires creative thinking and an aptitude for trailblazing experimentation to help Everactive realize its game-changing vision.  The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to be scrappy and agile as part of a high-growth company.          

Qualifications

  • Influencer: ability to craft a vision with excellent written and oral communication and enthusiastically build buy-in from internal & external stakeholders
  • Fierce customer advocate: good listener, empathic interviewing skills to understand the market’s needs, and customer problems and priorities
  • Team player: can work cross-functionally to get things done
  • Disruptive thinker: demonstrated success in solving high-value problems by implementing novel solutions
  • Bias for action: desire to fast prototype for iterative feedback to hone concepts
  • Deep knowledge of the solution landscape, including products, features, and technologies
  • At least 8-10 years in a maintenance & reliability or plant management role, with an advanced understanding of steam systems and steam trap maintenance
  • Deep market & application expertise through industry certifications and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree

Specific Job Requirements

  • Provide “boots on the ground” technical insight to guide Product Teams as Everactive’s internal voice of the customer and STM product champion
  • Test and iterate on ongoing prototypes to improve STM functionality, ensuring that we are meeting industry expectations, while also offering new functionality
  • Validate methods to ensure accuracy and consistency with industry standards
  • Assess competitive offerings, articulate core value propositions, and identify specific markets where Everactive’s technology offers distinct advantages
  • Support Sales during the pre-sales process to demonstrate value, educate customers, and win over key buyer personas
  • Support Customer Success during the post-sales and delivery process with training and configuration guidance
  • Contribute to quarterly Customer Success Insights Sessions by leveraging subject matter expertise to articulate and emphasize value relative to the “old way of doing things”
  • Support marketing efforts as an authoritative “product evangelist” with activities that include technical presentations, contributed articles and blog posts, podcasts, webinars, and more
