IDEA is also pleased to welcome new members to the IDEA Board, including Christina Ho of Con Edison; Gordon Judd of Clearway Community Energy San Francisco; Garret Roberts of Trane; and Paul Zmick of the University of Virginia. We also extend our thanks to Dan Dixon of District Energy Corporation and Joan Kowal of NextEra Energy for renewing their commitment to serving on the Board for another three years, with Joan also agreeing to serve as the At-Large Member of the Executive Committee.

IDEA would also like to thank outgoing Board Members Travis Hickford-Kulak of Corix and Joe Riemer of Trane for their service to the Board, IDEA, and the industry.

“As the district energy industry continues to grow globally, IDEA is pleased to welcome a slate of new directors and officers to our board”, says Robert Thornton, President & CEO.  “Since our formation in 1909, the volunteers serving on the IDEA board have reflected a range of membership segments, including owner/operators, technology innovators and service providers, all sharing a common commitment to advancing district energy as low-carbon solution for cities, communities and campuses.”

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Scott Clark of Burns & McDonnell as he leaves the IDEA Executive Committee. Scott was at the helm as Chair during the onset of the pandemic and graciously extended his presidential term by an additional year to help guide us through challenging times. Thank you for your leadership and wise counsel during these challenging times - we are stronger thanks to your service to IDEA and the industry.
