In March 2022 IDEA launched a survey to collect and collate our member college and universities’ carbon reduction targets and goals.
- Of 113 campuses surveyed, 102 have published current carbon or emissions reduction goals (a handful have goals under development)
- Canada: 10 respondents
- US: 92 respondents
- The most common goal is Carbon Neutrality (64 campuses total, by goal year)
- 2050: 25 campuses
- 2040: 7 campuses
- 2030: 9 campuses
- 2020: 7 campuses
- Complete: 1 campus
- The second most common goal is Net Zero (9 campuses)
- 2040: 7 campuses
- 2030: 1 campus
- 2025: 1 campus
