Ørsted wins contract to capture and store half a million tonnes of biogenic CO2

Denmark-based Ørsted has won a 20-year contract from the Danish Energy Agency (EA) for its carbon capture and storage (CCS) project ‘Ørsted Kalundborg Hub’.

As part of the project, Ørsted will integrate carbon capture technology at its wood chip-fired Asnæs Power Station in Kalundborg in wester Zealand and at the Avedøre Power Station’s straw-fired boiler in the Greater Copenhagen area.

According to Ørsted, the Asnæs and Avedøre combined heat and power plants will begin to capture and store biogenic CO2 during 2025.
