It was our pleasure to award the 2023 John Gray Scholarship.
With self-employed contractor father and two grandparents running their own engineering firm, Tyler's interest in engineering began at an early age. Summers working for his father only solidified his desire to go into civil engineering as a college student.
He is meeting his goal is to maintain a 4.0 average throughout his collegiate term at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and with his impressive volunteer and professional work, is well on his way to being a success.
As Tyler notes, "After graduation, my early-career objective is to find a challenging and rewarding engineering role related to sustainable energy. Ideally, this would be as a construction manager or design engineer for large infrastructure projects in the field of district energy. This goal is important to me because, as my father always says, “If you love what you do, then you will never work a day in your life.”
