NYSERDA would like to express our appreciation for the contributions of many individuals and other stakeholders since the
Community Heat Pump Systems Pilot program
launched in early 2021.
Since the launch, NYSERDA has offered nine rounds of funding to support more than 50 feasibility studies, detailed designs, and construction projects that represented a wide variety of building types, system configurations, technology solutions, locations, and business models. The primary goal of this pilot program was to accelerate the adoption of thermal energy networks in New York by demonstrating a range of technical solutions, business models, and best practices for developing thermal energy network projects. If you would like to view the fact sheets for the awarded projects and completed feasibility studies, please visit NYSERDA’s
website
.
We are pleased to announce Round 10 of the program. Updates to Round 10 include an extension of the deadline for proposals to
Thursday, September 14, 2023 by 3:00 p.m. ET.
There is up to $5.5M of funding available in Round 10, with a focus on projects serving low- to moderate-income (LMI) residents.
Following the completion of Round 10, NYSERDA is transitioning PON 4614 and will be providing support for thermal energy networks through an updated funding opportunity that is planned for late 2023; therefore, Round 11 is being removed.
Summary of Revisions for PON 4614 Round 10
Updated the funding limits in Category B and Category C for Round 10. There is up to $5.5M of funding available for both Category B and Category C.
Extended Round 10 due date to
Thursday, September 14, 2023 by 3:00 p.m. ET.
Category C projects must serve LMI residents to be eligible for Category C funding.
Transition and Future Funding Support for Thermal Energy Networks
At this time, we are using the learnings developed through the pilot program to inform an updated funding opportunity that can further accelerate the adoption of thermal energy networks by focusing on supporting solutions that can be replicated and continue to grow the market at scale. We expect the updated program to launch later this year.
For immediate funding needs, we encourage you to visit NYSERDA’s website for a list of all current program offerings, including those listed below:
FlexTech
: A technical study program on the feasibility of thermal energy networks at eligible project sites.
Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Accelerated Efficiency Program
: A program that seeks impactful energy efficiency and beneficial electrification projects from existing facilities within the industrial and commercial sector.
