Summary

Olmsted County invited community members to the Waste-to-Energy open house on April 27th. Those who went had an opportunity to get a glimpse at how the county dealt with solid waste.

With Olmsted County in the Karst region this means the Waste-to-Energy facility is more environmentally friendy.

Those on the tour got to see what operators in the facility do.

Wittmer says, "You get to go up to the control room, you'll see the operators using the crane and grapple. We use garbage as a resource or biomass fuel for the production of steam for heating and cooling buildings on Olmsted County's District Energy System as well as electrical production.
