Massive river-powered heat pumps which heat entire tenement blocks will help decarbonise Scotland’s cities, a leading expert has said.
Prof Dave Pearson said even traditional Glasgow tenements - long considered tricky for normal small heat pumps - could use so-called “district heating”, also known as heat networks.
That sees a central local power source piping heat to whole blocks and neighbourhoods - slashing carbon emissions by 95 per cent when done with green energy.
