Best Practices in District Energy/CHP: Project Life Cycles: Part 1

When:  Nov 8, 2023 from 14:00 to 15:30 (ET)

Join us on Wednesday, November 8th from 2-3:30 for Best Practices in District Energy/CHP: Project Life Cycles Part 1

This webinar is the first in the Project Life Cycles series, which explores how four different DE systems approached the design, financing, engineering, construction, and implementation of major decarbonization projects. Our panel of experts will lead you through real-world examples of master planning, stakeholder engagement, feasibility studies, and more to achieve the specific decarbonization goals set by their organization. Each webinar will follow our four systems through a different phase in the project life cycle:

Part 1: Project Development will explore the conditions that led each organization to take on a significant decarbonization project, and discuss financing strategies, stakeholder engagement, and master planning processes.

Our panelists represent some of the most innovative systems in the US, and we are excited to learn from their deep and diverse experiences:

  • Ted Borer, Director, Energy Plant, Princeton University
  • Meghan Riesterer, Chief Sustainability Officer |Sr Vice President ESG & Decarbonization, CenTrio
  • David Woodson, Executive Director Campus Energy, Utilities, & Operations, University of Washington
  • Paul Zmick, Director, Energy and Utilities. University of Virginia

This webinar series is being produced as part of IDEA’s cooperative agreement through the US Department of Energy, Verification and Validation of Performance with Dissemination of Best Practices in District Energy and CHP for Enhanced Resiliency, Energy Efficiency.  In addition to Parts 2, 3 and 4 of this webinar series, IDEA will be publishing a series of podcasts, District Energy Magazine articles, and a final report on the study findings in early 2024.
