Feasibility of a Community Heat Pump

08-08-2023 10:33

Session Abstract

Smith Engineering and Brookfield Properties are investigating installing a community heat pump system using the existing use of the thermal storage and heat exchange with the Hudson River to extract heat.  The project takes several years through multiple stages, and the initial phase presented at this conference will be the engineering feasibility.

Our goal is present annually each step of the project at IDEA so that each stage can be discussed and understood to help the members consider their own journey.

The presentation includes the feasibility scope, which consists of an assessment of technologies, financial and energy models, and design to see if the project is achievable.
