Business Model Brings Renewable District Energy to Burlington

09-13-2023 11:11

Session Abstract

For over more than a decade, local partners have pursued opportunities to capture heat from the biomass-fired McNeil Generating Station (50 MW) to build a renewably-based district energy system to reduce carbon emissions in the community. Now the partners have identified a unique business model that enables implementation of this system to serve the University, its Medical Center, and community neighbors. Michael Ahern with Ever-Green Energy will share the system’s development history and business model.
