At the foothills of the towering Wasatch Range, the University of Utah is in the midst of its own substantial growth. With nearly 800,000 square feet of newly constructed space scheduled to be completed over the next two years, the University realized that the existing chiller plant did not have the capacity to meet the loads of these new buildings. To address this shortfall, the University of Utah selected McKinstry as the Design-Build contractor for the Campus Energy Efficiency Project (CEEP). This was a case of adding more chilled water capacity or increasing efficiency throughout the system to provide additional peak load capacity. Negawatts before Megawatts!
