New Ways of Approaching Optimization at Vicinity Energy’s Baltimore District Cooling Campus

09-19-2023 10:27

Session Abstract

District energy providers have been very interested in implementing energy efficiency and optimization projects, however many promising projects have been shelved due to the challenges district energy providers face, such as multiple customers with competing interests and negotiating pass-through contracts.  Mr. Gillooly will discuss Vicinity Energy’s aggressive energy efficiency goals and how they are successfully moving projects forward.  Mr. Erpelding will present the successful Vicinity Energy chilled water optimization project; a district system serving downtown Baltimore with four (4) chilled water plants connected to a common loop, 25,000 tons of chiller capacity, two (2) ice TES systems with combined 89,000 ton-hrs, and 15 chillers.
