Summary

At a time were reliability is of utmost importance and efficiency of cooling tower systems are being scrutinized new developments within motor technology allow performance and reliability to be optimized. This paper will discuss the development of low speed, permanent magnet motors and how they can be used in direct-drive applications to eliminate the mechanical components from cooling tower designs. Case studies will be presented where an existing towers were refurbished utilizing the developed Motor Technology with a focus on the energy and other advantages of the solution.
