Screen Rant

Summary

Scientists have developed a way to turn sewer gas into clean-burning hydrogen in a cost-effective way. This latest example of using sewers and human waste has been part of a larger trend of converting human waste into a means of (ironically) clean energy production. In Denver, for example, two giant sewer pipes at the National Western Center carry wastewater and human excrement to a treatment plant where they are then used to heat buildings. The process involves having the soiled water pumped throughout the campus, separate from fresh and clean water, and heated, producing thermal energy. The new system is expected to produce 90% of clean heating for new buildings at the campus. The energy will be clean and hopefully, the smell isn't too bad.
