U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) spoke before the U.S. House of Representatives during Morning Hour on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
In his speech, Representative Casten addresses the need to start talking about climate change differently. Representative Casten argued that climate change is an economic opportunity and action on climate change could make the United States more globally competitive.
Representative Casten mentioned his previous work to profitably reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Making our economy more efficient and less dependent on expensive fossil fuel lowers carbon dioxide emissions and makes our businesses more profitable, which in turn protects Americans and makes our citizens wealthier, Representative Casten argued.
Representative Casten closed his speech suggesting we make U.S. Manufacturers more competitive by cutting their energy costs, protect American jobs, lower emissions and make our energy systems more resilient.
